My entire career has revolved around companion animals. After leaving school I did a National Diploma in Animal Management leaving with a distinction, I then trained as a Veterinary Nurse and qualified in 2012. Since then I followed my passion for physiotherapy, qualifying as a Physiotherapist in 2015 via the College of Animal Physiotherapy. I am a Registered Veterinary Nurse on the RCVS register and also a member of IAAT. I'm proud of my career and very much dedicated to companion animal nursing and rehabilitation. I work in a busy first opinion practice as both a physiotherapist and a nurse which helps keep both my nursing and physiotherapy knowledge high to achieve high levels of care. RVN Dip. An. Phys. Growing up with a collection of domestic and wild animals on my parents’ farm, I have always enjoyed caring and spending time with them, with a particular affinity with dogs. However, it was when I started training my own dogs that I realised how much more could be done to promote their health and well-being by addressing behavioural issues. So four years ago I was lucky enough to make my passion my career and started working professionally with dogs as a Canine Behavioural Adviser. This has allowed me to dedicate my time to help owners and their dogs. I can appreciate the problems they face, empathise with those worried about their much-loved pets and have an in-built desire to help them. It was partly through working with clients and partly through working with my own dogs that led me to Myotherapy. I have recently completed the Myotherapy Diploma, providing me with a very high standard, externally accredited qualification.

I have always been around animals and as a child I often helped take care of cattle, sheep, chickens, goats, horse, game etc. I studied Zoology and Physiology at Uni in SA. After graduating I worked as a receptionist at a local Vets. This inspired me to look in to animal rehab. My husband and I moved to Mauritius where we worked at PAWS, an international animal welfare organization. During this time I completed my Diploma in animal physiotherapy. In 2015 we moved back to SA and bought our own vet practice. I absolutely love animals. We are constantly working with animal rescue, adoption and welfare organizations and have also rescued quite a few animals ourselves - dogs, cats, birds, horses, goats, snakes and a few other exotic ones! I have spent every day of my life with animals, and I intend to dedicate my future to the safety and welfare of animals coming into our care.

I opened my hydrotherapy centre in 2006 with the aim of helping to improve the mobility and quality of life for the dogs that I treat. In 2016 I trained with TCAP as a Canine Massage Therapist, passing with Distinction. This enables me to offer extra help to those who need it and also for those who are not suitable for hydrotherapy. Seeing dogs literally bounce out of the door after a massage is incredibly satisfying! It is a privilege to help our canine friends to stay as fit and active as they can and my aim is always to see them enjoying life as they should.

With over 15 years’ experience as a human sports massage therapist and 4 years post canine massage diploma, I have developed a multi-modal approach to canine therapy. I work with local veterinary practices and other complementary therapists to supplement the treatment offered in the more traditional setting. I have worked with dogs of all age groups from puppy to senior for mobility issues, palliative care, rehabilitation, rescue and separation/bonding issue, pain management, arthritic management and sports injuries. Recently I have been engaged to provide expert tuition, designing and delivering graduate modules on the Healing Animal Organisation Diploma course. For owners wanting to support their dogs (and cats) I have designed and deliver tailored individual training to supplement and support the treatment I deliver. Working in collaboration with vets and owners alike, I aim to promote the wellbeing of the dogs I treat.

I am a dog owner, dog lover and animal enthusiast with 10 years professional experience. I graduated with Bsc (hons) in Animal Management and went on to successfully achieve certification in Small Animal First Aid, Level 3 Grooming Diploma and Level 3 Certificate in Hydrotherapy for Small Animals. In 2012, I set up PAWS+ as a pet grooming and dog walking company. Due to such high demand for grooming, dog walking services were sadly withdrawn in 2014. As much as I still enjoy pet grooming, I have always wanted to offer more to the canine community. With keen interests in animal rehabilitation and complementary therapies, I trained with the internationally renowned Galen Therapy Centre. Early in 2015, I successfully qualified as a Canine Myotherapy Practitioner. I aim to educate owners and assist veterinary professionals and to help as many dogs as I can.

I am an Equine Sports Massage therapist, based in Bedfordshire, who started riding at an early age. After completing my National Diploma in Horse Management, as well as some BHS exams, I worked at various yards, mostly show jumping, showing and livery. I have competed, and also produced, my own horses, in mounted games, show jumping and showing; I also enjoy producing and schooling horses as I like to see how they progress and change. I completed my Equine Sports Massage Diploma with the College of Animal Physiotherapy; not only is this a very interesting career, but it is extremely rewarding. To work on different types horses, and see and hear from owners, the improvements after I have treated their horse is very satisfying. I have lots of experience with different types of horses, therefore you can be reassured that I treat each horse individually, and have a confident, yet quiet and calming approach to work. https://www.facebook.com/HRequinesportsmassage/

Canine Massage Therapist: Muscle pain in dogs is often underestimated and sometimes difficult to diagnose and treat. I have specialised knowledge in this area and work in a targeted and specific way, through massage therapy, which often results in remarkable positive changes within the dog as a whole. Muscular issues can manifest themselves in many different ways. The pain can cause stress that will have a negative effect on how the dog functions both physically and emotionally. I can help with the treatment of dogs with postural and loading issues, damaged or injured muscle and allied soft tissue. The treatment is primarily intended for the long-term case that could have been a result of compensatory issues from a condition (i.e. osteoarthritis or hip dysplasia), past trauma or repetitive strain. I have an accredited diploma in Canine Myotherapy from the Galen Therapy Centre, and I am fully insured with public liability and professional indemnity insurance.

In May 2017 I qualified as an animal physiotherapist with the college of animal physiotherapy, as it has been a strong interest of mine for some time. I enjoy helping animals on the road to a full recovery and helping elderly arthritic patients become more comfortable, reliving them from all their aches and pains. I treat all conditions such as orthopaedic, neurological and soft tissue injuries and I offer soft tissue massage to those who many need it. I love working with all species but specialise in equine, dogs and cats. I have been fully trained in K-laser therapy and use it in a variety of physiotherapy cases. In 2002 I established the Galen Therapy Centre in West Sussex, where I began treating dogs with degenerative musculoskeletal change. I am considered an expert, pioneer and leader in my field of Canine Myotherapy both in the UK and worldwide. In 2006, I developed ‘The Galen Training Academy of Canine Studies’ which included the ‘Galen Canine Myotherapy Diploma'. This course was designed to teach people how to make a career from Galen Myotherapy and to make a team who would help Galen Myotherapy become more recognised. I am passionate about how dogs are exercised, trying to encourage a healthier approach and reduce environmental and physical RSI. I have always been passionate about the sympathetic handling of dogs during treatment and I do not advocate the use of muzzles, tables or restraint. This practice has now become synonymous with Galen’s practice gaining accolades from canine professionals across the globe.

I started working with horses in my teens, and now have over 30 years experience. I started in a dealing/ competition yard where I had some great training, riding all kinds of horses and ponies. I learnt to break youngsters correctly with proper groundwork. I went on to manage my own jumping stables for over 10 years. I was lucky enough to have some amazingly talented horses to ride. One going on to be shortlisted for the 2012 Olympic Japanese eventing team and one representing Team GB Showjumping at WEG and Nations Cups. For the past 6 years, I have worked on a freelance basis riding and coaching. I have added human massage and equine sports massage to my services as I think it compliments my overall aim, which is to help you get the best out of yourself and your horse.

Massage therapist & student animal physiotherapist : I am coming to the end of a career as a Medic in the Royal Navy and wanted to return to my true passion of working with animals. Prior to joining the RN, I was working at an RSPCA wildlife unit and local private/RSPCA cattery. After one of my current dogs was diagnosed with both hip and elbow dysplasia I set about finding treatments for him other than medication and surgery. This put me on the path to do my canine massage therapy course and after seeing what effect it has had on not just him, but other dogs I have treated, I took the step to train further as a Physiotherapist, where I hope to broaden my knowledge of the treatments available to me for the rehabilitation of not only dogs but to also to expand to cats in the future. I also work in close partnership with a Canine Hydrotherapist to ensure that our patients get the best possible outcome.

Animal Physiotherapist After seeing the difference that physiotherapy made to my own horses, I was keen to learn more. Undertaking the further studies in Animal Physiotherapy was a natural progression to help ensure that the horses I was training were comfortable with what was being asked of them. I am fully qualified and insured and work with vet approval. Dogs feature heavily in my life and I rescued my first dog Sophie, who partnered me in agility training and competitions. As an animal physiotherapist much of my time is spent working with dogs. Although this is generally after some kind of trauma, many people with working dogs and competition dogs simply want a regular MOT for their animal.

Canine Physiotherapist I have always had an affinity with dogs and from a very young age I approached them with a sensitivity and care that enabled any dog to feel calm in my presence. Growing up with dogs there were times where I had naturally, through instinct, used massage to calm them but also treat injuries or arthritis. I saw that this helped to aid recovery or ease pain in my own dogs. Louise Mauferon Vernet

Louise Mauferon Vernet is French and has been living in the UK since 2010. She’s always loved animals, and this, combined with a fierce passion for science, made her want to become a vet. In 2009, she started studying to get into the best French school of vet medicine. But during this year, she started questioning this approach of the body, of pathology, as well as the constant focus on the symptom. She started researching alternatives, and discovered osteopathy and decided to continue down this path. She moved to England in 2010, in order to start studying at the European School of Animal Osteopathy, where she graduated with honors as a manual therapist in 2015. She works with riders from all levels and all disciplines, as she believes that all horses should have to opportunity of feeling the benefits of a session. And even though she specializes in horses, she can never say no to helping an old dog or a rabbit!

I am a Registered Galen Myotherapist treating all dogs from the lame and arthritic through to canine athletes. We work on the dogs muscular system where issues are an extremely common and underestimated cause of pain that can have a negative effect on how the dog functions both physically and psychologically. Myotherapy can ease tension and increase muscle length to improve joint function and achieve optimum 'range of movement' resulting in improved mobility, performance and a reduction in pain perception.

Having gained the Galen Therapy Centre's diplomas in both canine massage and canine exercise physiology, I now treat dogs suffering with a wide range of musculoskeletal issues, using a combination of deep tissue manipulations and exercise in order to promote functional movement. Physical conditioning exercise classes and 1-2-1 sessions are also available, suitable for both rehabilitation purposes and improving sporting performance. The exercises, aiding both core and joint stability encourage an optimal range of movement and help to reduce the risk of injury.

Animal osteopathy:After graduating, in 1988 from the European School of Osteopathy, Maidstone, Kent, UK, I have striven to build a truly multi disciplinary system of osteopathic medicine through my pioneering work in the veterinary field. From this association, I have derived incredible advances in my human patient work, especially with cases of partial, and near total paralysis. In 1998, I set up Zoo Ost Ltd following 10 years in practice. I was keen to bring both aspects of my work together under a single banner. A business providing treatment for both people and animals. 'Zoo Ost' is just that - Osteopathy for the wellbeing of all creatures. So far Zoo Ost Ltd has been able to help not just people of all ages, and from all walks of life, but also animals and birds from around the world. I have been privileged in treating some of the worlds rare, and endangered species as part of conservation, and rehabilitation programmes.

I have always had a love of animals and knew from a young age that I wanted to work with them which I have now been doing for over 20yrs. At 14yrs old I started volunteering at a local rescue centre and it was here that my love of working with animals really grew. I went on to study at Cambridge College of Agriculture and Horticulture/College of West Anglia going the First Diploma and National Diploma in Animal Care. I then retrained in Animal Physiotherapy as this was something that I had always had an interest in. I trained with The College of Animal Physiotherapy (TCAP). I am currently the joint manager of the rescue centre that I began my career with and run my own physiotherapy business alongside it. I am a fully qualified and insured physiotherapist and I cover Hertfordshire, Essex, Cambridge and North London.
